The Spinney Surgery are looking for a Phlebotomist to join our team!
We have an opportunity to recruit a new Phlebotomist to cover 16 - 20 hours per week. We welcome applications from those with primary and/or secondary care experience and welcome those with additional qualifications too.
Working under the direction of the nursing manager and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient population. In addition, the Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample.
b. Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols.
c. Maintaining accurate patient records on SystmOne.
d. The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples.
e. Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies.
f. Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner.
g. Working collaboratively with the nursing team and Healthcare Assistants, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters.

Salary: £10.80-£10.90 per hour
