Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join us in our Pharmacy technical services team as a Chief Pharmacy Technician.
Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust Pharmacy Technical Services Units comprise of 1 radiopharmacy, 3 aseptic units and 1 prepack unit across 4 sites. The Technical Services teams work closely to ensure a high quality service is provided.
You will be responsible for the day to day management of the chemotherapy and aseptic unit, providing a high quality service whilst ensuring an effective use of resources .
You will be responsible for service provision from the Pharmacy Technical Services unit at Southend as well as supporting and working in collaboration with the other Chief Technicians across Mid and South Essex.

- Responsible for the delivery of the day-to-day management of the Chemotherapy and aseptic service.
- Responsible for staff management.
- Ensuring investigations are completed thoroughly and within a timely manner.
- Responsible for provision of a high-quality service to the Trust Technical Services.
- Support the Head of Technical Services and Operational lead in providing planning, development, monitoring and strategic direction for the technical services unit.
- Organise and prepare TSU documents and reports for the Production / QA meetings. Ensuring delivery of appropriately analysed documents.
- Contribute to pharmacy services in the Trust to ensure safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient use of drugs.
- The post holder will develop specialist technical services within the Pharmacy department.
- Provide site management cover for the Chief Technician Radiopharmacy, Governance and Training during periods of absence,

- Ensure pharmaceuticals are supplied in a timely manner.
- Take an active part in monthly Production / QA meetings.
- Be responsible for GMP training within MSE Technical Services.
- Plan own workload within allocated area of work.
- Carry out capacity planning and develop contingency plans for the technical services unit.
- To assist and action investigations with non-conformances, and error reporting producing data for further analysis.
- Support, develop and deliver robust systems for technical services and implement safety initiatives working closely with the Head of TSU.
- Deputise when required for the Operational Lead technical services.
- Investigation of incidents, errors or complaints and report findings. Ensure shared learning across TSU sites.
- Participates in the final compound checking of products within the technical services unit having completed the appropriate accreditation as required.
- Participate in the weekend and bank holiday rotas as part of an agreed rota.
- Participate in cross site working.
- Share in general management duties with TSU Chief Technicians and Operations Managers in Pharmacy, to promote good communication and to ensure efficient working throughout the department.
