Band 5 AfC – Prescribing Support Technician
BASE/LOCATION: Allermuir Health Centre
Full time hours - 37.5 per week - part time hours will be considered and will be pro rata.

The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 100 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrators, working across General Practices covering the whole of Edinburgh.

Who you are:
You are a highly motivated and enthusiastic, GPhC registered pharmacy technician.
You will already be working within a GP practice as a pharmacy technician and have experience with the practice IT systems or have community/hospital background and have transferrable skills for the role. You should have post certificate pharmacy experience and able to demonstrate good communication skills and practicing with accuracy.
You should have a HNC qualification in pharmaceutical sciences/medicine management qualification or equivalent experience.

You will have experience of involvement in the development and education of others.
The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
What we offer:
You will be working alongside a team of experienced pharmacists and technicians. You will be expected to implement prescribing projects within your allocated practices and provide pharmacotherapy support to multiple practices remotely via working in the hub.
You will become integrated with the pharmacy team, attending peer review and team meetings. You will also become integrated with practice teams, providing support to patients on safe use of medicines and promoting formulary prescribing.
