Head Pharmacy Technician

The Harley Street Clinic and LOC

Full time - 37.5 hours per week

The role:

As a key member of the pharmacy leadership team you will work with the Head of Pharmacy, Lead Clinical Pharmacist(s) and Head Technicians across HCA in providing comprehensive leadership and management of pharmacy patient services (dispensary, procurement, ward stock, MMTs and E&T) through involvement in the strategic planning, development and delivery of pharmacy services throughout the hospital and any affiliated sites.


You will be responsible for the continuous service and professional development of the pharmacy patient services, across all disciplines (excluding aseptics), and will lead Quality Improvement Project(s) (QIPs), and management of risks and incidents.


You will be responsible for completing and presenting financial trends, operational and governance reports (including audit) to the Head of Pharmacy and/or executive team.


You will be responsible for regularly updating the Head of Pharmacy on medicines management, staffing and resource in order to meet the needs of the department.

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • BTEC / NVQ Level 3 qualification in Pharmaceutical Science / Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent) and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council

  • Practice Supervisor, Train the trainer or equivalent qualification

  • CMI Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent

  • Extensive experience in a hospital pharmacy as a registered pharmacy technician including dispensary, distribution and procurement services

  • Extensive experience of training, supervising, and managing staff

  • Extensive experience managing pharmacy operations

  • Experience in procurement and supply

  • Experience in incident and risk management

  • Experience in quality improvement projects

  • Extensive experience in understanding medication related finances

Desirable:

  • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) accreditation

  • Medicines Management / Optimisation accreditation from a recognised provider

  • Diploma in procurement and supply

  • Experience of Omnicell® Automated Dispensing Cabinets

  • Medicines management experience in a clinical setting e.g., drug history taking or POD assessment, patient consultation
