Pharmacy Assistant
We are looking to recruit a full time Pharmacy Assistant within our brand new state of the art veterinary hospital in Northampton. You would be joining our pharmacy team and offering an exceptional service to our clients and the best possible care to their pets.
Your ability to build strong relationships with our clients, their pets and providing a strong link between clients and the clinical team will be critical to your success.
What your typical day would include:-
- Dispensing medications for pets during consults, post surgery and for in-patients.
- Advising on parasite treatments and preventative healthcare option, including healthcare plans.
- Dispensing repeat prescriptions including processing written prescriptions.
- Liaising with clients for medication requests.
- Serving clients on the pharmacy desk and dealing with general reception duties such as enquires for appointments, taking payments and pet insurance information.
- Liaising with pharmacies, reading online medication ordering.
- Demonstrating and advising clients on the safe and correct use of medication.
- Taking payments both in person and via online requests.
- Stock control including stock ordering, arriving stock, stock rotation, managing stock levels, managing expired drugs, stock takes etc.
- Manage stock related records,
- Help with end of day procedures to include cleaning and restocking of the practice.
- Reception duties to include, meet & greet clients, booking in appointments, answering phones and answering general enquires.
This is a full time role, working 40 hours per week, covering Monday to Sunday across the hospital opening hours of 8am and 9pm. You will work a variety of shifts within these hours, including one in three weekends of 8am-7pm on the Saturday and Sunday.
You will be the welcoming face for both clients and their pets when they arrive at the hospital. This means you will need to be a great communicator, someone who genuinely enjoys customer service and meeting new faces every day (including the pet variety).
As this is a client facing role, we are looking for someone with strong customer service skills. No prior pharmacy experience is required, however a love of people and pets is a must.
The ideal candidate will be calm, attentive, and always focuses on th clients needs. You shall enjoy working in a busy team environment and thrive in a hospital dynamic. You will be IT literate, have strong communication & numeracy skills combined with great attention to detail. You should be competent in using a variety of IT systems and communication tools, and be able to use technology to both help and improve the client experience and minimise paper usage.
