Job description
ForPaws are looking for professional, friendly, cat lovers based in Guildford and Haslemere, to expand our cat sitting team.
The role involves visiting cats within their own homes, replenishing their food and water, making a fuss of them and then updating their owners on how their pets are whilst away. We have bookings over 7 days a week, every week throughout holiday periods.
The right person for the role would be:
- An animal lover first and foremost, able to understand what cats and pets need, to care for them well, whilst owners are away, and happy to make a fuss of them (if they're the type of cats that like that of course!). This means that you also must agree to our ethics on force free and kind animal handling.
- Friendly! The ability to get along well with our clients and our team is a must! Whilst this is an animal care role - our pets' owners are the ones who decide who they will use to look after their pets, so being able to build a rapport quickly with our human clients is essential.
- Professional and reliable, once you have agreed to bookings, you must fulfil the commitment. We have an excellent reputation and every member of our team is responsible for maintaining this. This means every booking must be done, for the full length of time agreed and our clients kept updated throughout the booking, with a text message after every visit.
- Have good attention to detail - making sure that you fully understand what is needed on each booking and fulfil this every time.
- An excellent communicator. We work mostly via email communication with our clients and each other, so you must be able to check your emails every day and reply promptly to bookings in a courteous, professional and friendly manner. This is what sets our business apart!
- A car driver with your own car insured for business travel. This is is essential and we are sorry but we will not consider applications from anyone without their own car and full driving licence.
- Available to work 7 days a week, including over bank holidays and school holidays which are our busiest times. This is an essential aspect of the job, and we are unable to consider applications from anyone who is not available at these times! However, we do charge (and pay) rates at 1.5x and 2x on weekends and bank holidays respectively.
- Organised - we have scheduling software to track your bookings, but we need you to check this is accurate and arrange your bookings to be efficient and completed in a timely manner.
- Happy to be self employed - as all our team are self-employed.
- Happy to complete our training as part of their induction. We want our clients to enjoy a consistent service from all our team, so we ensure all our staff complete a short training programme with us.
- Living in Guildford/Woking or Haslemere only. We always attract interest from people living outside of these areas, but it is simply not feasible for someone who doesn't live locally to work for us, due to the travel costs involved.
To apply, please send a covering letter to us explaining why you would like to work for us and how you meet our criteria above, along with your CV - remember that attention to detail and communication is important to us! We look forward to hearing from you.
