Job description
The role is part time with variable hours and full training will be given. The successful candidate will assist our Pet Assisted Therapist with delivering therapy to primary school aged children in Brentwood, Essex in a school setting. We are seeking a warm, friendly individual who is passionate about making a difference to children’s lives. Due to the sensitive nature of the work the ideal candidate will have active listening skills along with empathy and compassion.
The Pet Therapist will take their own PAT dog to see the children.
The role is subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Essential Criteria:
Interest in Mental health and wellbeing
Excellent communication skills
Experience of working with children
The ability to quickly develop a rapport with the children and adults we are working with.
Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable criteria
Experience in working with animals
Has a dog that can be PAT tested and used for therapy
Pet First Aid Trained
Qualifications Needed
GCSEs in English and Maths Grade C or Above
Job Types: Part-time, Freelance
Part-time hours: 15 per week
Salary: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
