HugglePets is a Pet Reptile and Aquatics Store.
We are a family-owned business and we are passionate about creating an environment that enables people to succeed in their roles.
Our store in Wolverhampton features livestock and supplies for all pets including Reptiles, Aquaria and Small animals.
In 2018 We launched a Non for Profit called HugglePets in the Community which runs separately from our Commercial business, to help people with their mental wellbeing. We were recently visited by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as recognition of the good work we have been doing in our local community. This makes us very proud, and we are determined to do as much as we can to continue helping people.
The Role
Our organization is currently in need of charismatic and friendly Retail Sales Assistants (in-store) to join our team. The successful candidates will have experience interacting with potential clients, be comfortable engaging in small talk, and are willing to push products. The candidates should have a desire to assist clients with their shopping and take pride in their work.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers when entering the store.
- Offer assistance to customers when needed.
- Walk to inventory items and restock if deemed necessary.
- Distribute product information to customers.
This will be to join our existing team and work in store, caring for livestock, stocking up the store, serving customers, amongst other tasks. The role would include helping customers in-store and on the phone with any questions they may have. You will also need to be capable of keeping documentation that relates to suppliers’ orders and animal welfare.
There will also be an opportunity to take part in our community work. This would involve being an animal handler in our sessions with participants of our mental wellbeing sessions. There would also be opportunities to teach children, record videos / podcasts and radio interviews about educational content about reptiles and other animals.
This position is for experienced pet store workers only with a strong knowledge of Reptiles. We would expect the successful candidate to have 3 years of full-time experience in a similar environment and have relevant skills and certification.
Skills required
- Must have a high work ethic
- Must be capable of tending to all animals including aquaria and reptiles
- Must be competent in English and Maths and ICT
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge from a previous role
- Must be able to hit KPI’s set.
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to be flexible as shift patterns can change due to holidays and other factors
Info about the Job
- 34 hours per week.
- Weekday and Weekend Shifts.
- Store opening hours 8.30 -5pm Monday to Friday, 9am -5pm Saturday, 10am-2pm Sundays.

Please note this position is not suitable for someone without Pet Retail Experience.
