The DIT Security Team is tasked with the development and delivery of ground-breaking and innovative ways to protect staff and visitors in the UK and overseas. We deliver security services to our Ministers and officials on a range of subjects across the spectrum of security fields.

We are looking for someone to join our team of Personnel Security Officers to collaborate with Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) colleagues in developing, implementing, and sustaining efficient, integrated, and robust processes to facilitate the vetting, and onboarding of DDaT staff. This includes both permanent staff and contractors from a range of suppliers.

Job description

As a member of the Personnel Security team, you will be the key contact for DDaT vetting applications and queries and manage the spectrum of national security vetting processes for DDaT customers. You will ensure security requirements are upheld, whilst working to meet DDaT’s fast-paced requirements.

You will also act as an intelligent customer to our security shared service provider, Cluster 4 (a part of FCDO), monitoring service delivery and levels of performance.

As a newly created role, this Fixed term contract is for a 2-year period with the potential for extension. It will provide dedicated resource to service the specific and growing requirements of DDaT’s vetting and onboarding needs.

The skills required for this role are:

  • Great people skills, including management, communication, and team-working
  • Being comfortable providing advice to seniors, even if your messages prove unpopular
  • Good task management and organisational skills
  • Previous knowledge or understanding of working in, with or alongside the security profession and personnel security

Desirable Skills and Experience

This is not necessary but would be ideal if you:

  • Experience in HR, people and personnel, or risk management processes
  • Some knowledge of working in a Digital Data Technology role

This role is available in three UK locations, including central London, Cardiff, and Darlington’s new economic hub. This role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in the office on average. Changes to these working arrangements are available in certain circumstances, but must be agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role. Travel to your primary office location will not be paid for by DIT, but costs for travel to an office which is not your main location will be covered.
