Job description
Personal Assistant
AN OPPORTUNITY HAS ARISEN FOR THE RIGHT PERSON TO JOIN MY TEAM.
THIS PERMANENT POSITION OFFERS GREAT LONG-TERM, FULL-TIME JOB SECURITY!
As a full-time powered female wheelchair user, I'm looking for a reliable, caring, easy-going, mature (in terms of understanding what a responsible position this is), fairly conscientious and fun person to join my small team of Personal Assistants (PAs), working 1:1 with me, to assist me to live independently in my home in Llandudno.
Experience isn't essential as training will be given, but you will need to be able to pick up new (seemingly complicated at first) routines/tasks quickly and not be phased by things that are new to you.
I am looking for someone to join my team, to work 168 hours (7 shifts) every 28 days, and who has the flexibility to cover any shortfalls in the rota, as a result of sickness and/or annual leave. The shifts are 24 or 48 hours, during which time you will be required to live-in.
My physical impairment means that I need help with pretty much every aspect of my daily living - including support with all personal care, all domestic tasks, accompanying/driving me when socialising (to name but a few). Basically everything you do for yourself I need a PA to do for, or with me, plus the additional daily tasks associated with living with a muscle wasting condition.
QUALITIES I NEED FROM YOU…
YOU NEED TO BE:
- PRIMARILY able to commit to an extremely responsible position that may initially seem quite difficult, in terms of learning how to physically assist me, learning about my condition and its physical limitations, and pick up what can initially seem like complicated routines. You must be able to follow instructions, as well as being able to work on your own initiative.
- able to pick up routines fairly quickly, whilst being aware you won't get everything straightaway.
- happy with taking care of my dog.
- flexible, open-minded with a calm and patient disposition.
- based locally to Llandudno.
- a non-smoker is preferred.
- willing to be DBS checked at an enhanced level.
- able to speak & comprehend English fluently (for safety reasons).
- able to work in the UK post-Brexit (I am unable to provide sponsorship).
- comfortable socialising but also able to occupy yourself during downtime.
- sincere and empathetic.
- a safe and confident driver who enjoys driving.
- flexibility to work when required, is absolutely essential.
- familiar with and supportive of the "social model" of disability.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM ME:
- a permanent job with a salary of £261.60 per 24 hour shift
- holiday entitlement, this will depend on the number of hours that you actually work and be pro-rated on the basis of the statutory holiday entitlement of 5.6 weeks, is equivalent to 12.07 per cent of hours worked over a year.
- enrolment onto a pension scheme (you can opt out)
- plenty of fun and new experiences.
- lots of attention/love from my dog.
- opportunities to broaden your social horizons.
If this sounds like it could be for you then please get in touch, letting me know about you and any relevant experience/qualities (although as already stated experience isn't essential) and telling me as much as you can about you. A CV/resumé/NVQs are okay but information about you as a person is much more important/useful to me.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!
