Personal (Care) Assistant Downham Market, England
Job description
Home Care Direct are industry-leading specialists in personalisation. We help a wide variety of people to take control over their care at home using personal budgets, personal health budgets, direct payments or their own funding.
Vacancy Summary:
About me:
I enjoy socialising and getting out and about. My hobbies include visiting places, crafts (I will have a go at most things and occasionally runs my own workshops), car boots (I like a good bargain), gardening (I grow some of my own fruit and vegetables) and going to the cinema.
What support I need:
I will need you to keep accurate records and you will be required to complete my daily work log and medication chart and be able to use your initiative and keep yourself occupied. You will need to be willing to help take care of my cats now and then and to provide emergency and holiday cover which will be pre-planned as far as possible.
Responsibilities include: administering medication, assistance with personal care, moving and handing and domestic tasks.
I like to do as much as I can myself but as my condition is so unpredictable the amount and type of support I need can vary from day today. I will need my PA in close proximity most of the time.
About you and our requirements:
You must hold a full, clean UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle. You may be required to drive our clients’ vehicle but there may be occasions when you will have to use your own vehicle. You must be a confident driver as our client is a nervous passenger and will need reassurance whilst in the car. You must have business use, or be willing to obtain business use as part of your vehicle insurance.
Due to the nature of the support, when the client goes into respite you will not be paid but will have the opportunity to work extra shifts prior to the respite being taken. You can also take annual leave during this time if you wish to do so. You will be informed of this in advance.
This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 - there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female support workers only.
An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense met by HomeCareDirect)
What we can offer you:
Auto enrolment into a pension scheme
Full client specific training, Diploma in Health and Social Care, in-depth induction and ongoing professional development with support and supervisions from your dedicated local nurse and Care Facilitator
A Blue Light Card
Our organisation is committed to safe and fair recruitment, safeguarding and protecting those we care for and serve. We make sure all our staff are vetted, selected, trained and supervised fairly and to a high standard so that they can provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.
