About me:
I am a gentleman in my early forties and I live in the Shotton area of Flintshire. Following a road accident when I was in my twenties,
I received a spinal injury and an acquired brain injury which had a life changing impact.
The aim of my support is to empower me and support me to live a full life and to be as independent as possible
I am a wheelchair user, but able to transfer independently. I drive and have my own car. The only times when I may not drive is longer distances as I can tire easily so would need assistance with this.
I like to be active and doing things. I particularly enjoy keeping fit and play rugby on a regular basis and participate in tournaments both home and away. I enjoy spending time with my mates and like having a laugh with people – I am very sociable person and generally get on with everyone, although I can get frustrated at times and need some space to take stock.
I like animals, enjoy playing pool and darts. I enjoy getting out and about when it’s good weather, and I also enjoy football (I used to play a lot of football prior to my accident). I am also a Leeds FC fan too!
I need assistance with elements of my day to day routine including showering, dressing and bowel management plan. I require support with preparing meals – general day to day things.
I need a team who are focused on encouraging and motivating me to be as independent as possible, assisting me to achieve my goals and do the things that are important to me.
The kind of person I’m looking for:
- You must be proactive and be focused on building independence and empowering people
- I need a team that will support me to do rather than do for me.
- Have similar interests in order to encourage, accompany and participate.
- Be reliable, have a flexible approach, and have a good sense of humour is a must
- You should work in a way which promotes independence, and supports abilities and strengths.
- You must be able to provide support in a professional, dignified and respectful manner
- You will be required to complete an enhanced check before starting employment.
What can you expect from me?
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)
- Competitive rates of pay
- Knowing that you make a difference and there is a daily positive outcome
- Able to get to know the person more and be more involved in supporting them
- Supporting the person to achieve their chosen lifestyle
- Having training and support that is directly about the person you support so you can implement directly from training
