Deaf Community Independence CIC (DCI) is a small non profit company supporting Deaf people lead active healthy lives, promoting independence and reducing isolation.
Location

Hours
- Flexible / Ad Hoc position to cover annual leave & sickness.
- 10 hours for a 2 week block; 5 hours each week
- Possibility of a more permanent position in the future
- Freelance position
Hourly rate
- £12.50 - £14.00
Experience
- Experience in PA / Support work or similar
- Would need to be confident BSL user
- Have experience of working with a variety of Deaf BSL Users
- Experience of supporting Deaf people’s independence
Skills
- Can be flexible in different situations, E.G mental health scenarios, Learning difficulties/disabilities
- Be able to translate basic correspondence for clients and possibly accompany to health appointments
- Basic I.T knowledge
- Understands risks associated with vulnerable adults and PA work
- Understands safeguarding procedures
- Have any awareness of professional boundaries
- Be able to handover information to DCI Directors
Personal attributes
- Can use initiative and can ‘think outside the box'
- Happy to undertake a DBS check
- Be patient and understanding
- Have an open mind to complex situations
Responsibilities
- To meet Deaf clients in a variety of settings; their home, in the community, at an appointment,
- Support clients with accessing services; health appointments, independent living skills, booking health appointments, ensuring clients are safe,
- Will be required to have own work mobile to use during client visits
- Be able to meet clients on a prearranged date and time in an area of their choice
- Be able to support clients within their allocated hours
Job Type: Freelance
Salary: £12.50-£14.00 per hour
