Personal Assistant for child P/T @ £13.50/hr in Norwich, Evenings up to 6hrs p/w

- 3 x 2 hour shifts per week, evenings (usually sometime between 4pm-7.30pm),

Personal Assistant/Carer position available, starting as soon as possible (subject to DBS, right to work and reference checks),
You will be providing support to an 8y/o boy “X” alongside a parent (usually mum), primarily as in-home support. “X” is a very happy, smiley, friendly and chatty boy who loves jigsaw puzzles, singing, outdoor play, and playing on his tablet, and will want to make you a good friend! ”X” has complex additional needs - he is autistic, ADHD (awaiting assessment), has mild hemiplegia (Cerebral Palsy) affecting his left hand, Epilepsy, Cerebral Vision Impairment and Learning Disability. He has communication, sensory and some personal care needs, no awareness of danger, and can display some behaviour that challenges such as hitting or jumping on others. The role is mainly playing with “X”, and supporting him to have a calm but fun evening environment at home, and supporting through dinner and bedtime routines.
- Supporting to safely play at home, sometimes alongside his older sibling (9y/o)
- Supporting with appropriate behaviour and communication
- Support with meal times
- Support with bedtimes
- Some minimal personal care
- Experience of working with/caring for children with additional needs, particularly autism and Learning Disability
- Epilepsy first aid training or willing to undertake (provided)
- Friendly, patient and understanding

Summary terms and conditions:
- The rate of pay for this position is £13.50 per hour
- Flexible working
- The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks
- A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
- Satisfactory references from two referees, one of which must be your current or last employer.
- Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months.
