Personal Assistant for a teenage boy P/T @ £10.82/hr in Cramlington - FTE - £22.5k

We are currently looking for a Support Worker to provide support for a 15-year-old to access the local community with leisure activities.
Hours can be used flexibly and arranged with the employer. During the warmer weather activities can be offered early evening and weekends. Some of the activities will include Stay and Play-Active Northumberland, playing Lego, talking about animals and dinosaurs. All Star Wars fans welcome.
- To provide enabling support to access the community and engage in meaningful local activities. A step-by-step approach will need to be taken initially so as this young person can adjust and build up a rapport, slowly interacting and managing this change sensitively.
- To understand the needs of a young person with autism, attention deficit disorder and an associated learning disability. To have some experience of dealing with challenging behavior's and to be able to follow a support plan to reduce anxieties and frustrations.
- To provide support with personal care where needed and to direct to the toilet/bathroom when required.
- You will be required to always ensure the safety of this young person. Full supervision is required at all times as this young person has no awareness of road safety or strangers.
- Ensure that you take reasonable care of your own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
- Using your own car will be required during this employment; it must be insured for business use.
You Must:
- Have a positive understanding towards Children with disabilities.
- Have experience at administering medication if required, however training will be provided.
- Have a high degree of initiative
- Be flexible
- Have a happy positive caring nature.
- Respect Confidentiality.
Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) disclosure - will be required, cost to be met by employer. All travel expenses will be met by the employer and any activity costs will be paid in advance.
