Personal Assistant required by a wheelchair user in Aberdeenshire. Please read requirements carefully before applying.
All applicants MUST have a full clean uk driver's license and be a careful, confident driver. This job requires you to regularly drive a wheelchair accessible van. I'm a very nervous passenger after a previous crash. Some understanding of this would be helpful.
I am looking for a Personal Assistant to help me with everyday activities to maintain my independence. From personal care, hoisting, and dressing to shopping, cooking, cleaning and help with looking after pets. I have a small dog.
I like to remain as active as my health allows so assisting me on social outings and with different activities is also important.
Could include anything from swimming to protesting for equality!
You'll be shown how to use the hoist and given on the job training.
Experience of a similar 'one on one' caring role is advantageous, but not necessary. It's more important that the applicant be happy to follow instructions. You should be willing to learn, be flexible with hours and generally be a 'good fit' with myself and my small team of other P.A.s.
On the job training will be given in the form of shadow shifts and ongoing instruction from employer. The work also requires some stamina and physical capability. (There is no 'heavy lifting' involved, but long walks maybe).
Flexibility regarding hours of work is a strong requirement. Sometimes things need to change at short notice to accommodate hospital appointments, events etc.
I am looking for someone to cover around 18
hours per week, with the possibility of more. (May consider two staff members sharing these hours) There will be a 6 month trial period initially, leading to a permanent position for the right applicant(s). I'd really be prefer a non-smoker and someone willing to travel for work when required, such as overnight stays away when I am visiting friends or family (still within Scotland). This will not be a frequent requirement and prior notice will be given.
A clear understanding of privacy and complete confidentiality is essential.
You must also be able to undertake tasks unsupervised and as instructed, to a high standard.
A Personal Assistant must also retain a professional and flexible attitude to work and will at all times respect persons in their working environment. Candidates MUST meet the following criteria:
Have a full, clean, UK driving license.

Highly preferred:
Be able to follow instructions
Good health, stamina for long walks from time to time.
5 years no claims bonus (helps insure you in my vehicle)
Female PA preferred (This means anyone who identifies as female, and is exempt from the equality act on the basis of personal care).

PPE is supplied. Lateral Flo tests are provided and should be done whenever you show symptoms. Hand sanitizer is provided. Frequently touched areas such as door handles are disinfected regularly. This would be part of the job to do.
