Job description
Thornliebank, Glasgow
25 HOURS PER WEEK
Are you interested in working for an award winning social care charity?
Personal Assistants (Support Workers) have the most important role within ENABLE by making a positive difference every day to the lives of the people we support. No two days are the same for our Personal Assistants but what we can guarantee is that you will be supporting someone with a learning disability to achieve their goals and outcomes – whatever they may be!
Each person we support has different needs - your role may include assisting them with various aspects of personal care, moving and handling or positive behavioural support whilst expanding their social networks and connections.
ENABLE Scotland tailors a unique team around every individual we support. Our Personal Assistants work together to ensure that the safety, well-being and aspirational needs of the people we support are met.
The Best in You Brings Out the Best in Me
A career with ENABLE is as rewarding as it is diverse. The people we support have varied interests and hobbies - they have all the same hopes and dreams as we do, but they too often don't get the opportunity to explore them.
Personal Assistants at their best have the potential to truly bring out the best in the people we support.
Let us introduce you to Jimmy, Jack and Bob:
Jimmy, Jack and Bob are three friends and neighbours who live in a quiet, leafy corner of south-west Glasgow. They each live independently a few doors away from each other, but enjoy spending occasional social time together. The men are all in their 60 with a variety of support needs. They each attend the nearby community centre a few times a week where they can pursue their own interests and enthusiasms.
Jimmy is a friendly and sociable man who takes great pride in his garden and an interest in the world around him. He is a popular figure in his community and is a regular at his local church on Sundays. Although he has a visual impairment, Jimmy does not let this get in the way him enjoying his independence. Jimmy enjoys an active life and likes to keep in shape - he recently completed the Kiltwalk, raising money for charity.
