As a leader, you will work with your team members to be the best they can be through managing their performance, support them through change, looking after their health, safety and wellbeing and supporting their development.
NPS regulate activities that impact the environment and your role will be crucial to this work.
Your teams will have direct contact with applicants for environmental permits and licenses.

You will be required to have an incident management role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

We currently have one vacancy in our Water Resources work area leading a team based at Nottingham. Future permanent or temporary Permitting Team Leader roles may also arise at other locations and in other work areas so if you are interested in the role, please submit an application to show your interest.
We will hold applications on file for six months on a reserve list to fill any future Permitting Team Leader vacancies which may occur.
NPS consists of 600 staff delivering a broad range of permits and licenses. You will be one of multiple supportive Team Leader colleagues working under the same manager. Your team will include at least one senior officer who supports technical development. Teams work flexibly at home or the office and meet up regularly.

- Strong customer focus with influencing skills that will ensure good outcomes for the permitting service.
- Excellent communication skills

- A broad knowledge of Environment Agency duties and responsibilities
- The ability to work collaboratively with people throughout the organisation
- Passionate about the environment
- Champion Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI) through your positive and flexible leadership style
Previous experience of leading a team, knowledge of the environmental permitting process and the work of NPS is desirable, but not essential. You will develop your knowledge and skills as you are inducted to the roles. Your learning will be done through a mixture of mentoring, attending courses and self-learning.
