Job description
Permanent Clinical Director - Holyhead, Anglesey
Type: Small Animal
Location: Holyhead, Anglesey
Practice Type: Part of a group - They have a loyal client base. They see lots of dogs, cats, and exotics. Once a week they run a one-hour RSPCA clinic on behalf of the local RSPCA branch.
Facilities: Their extensive equipment includes a modern IDEXX in-house laboratory (catalyst and procyte), digital AGFA CR X-ray, video endoscope and bronchoscope, colour Doppler ultrasound with ECG, tonopen, slit lamp - all of these would allow candidates to work up cases entirely in-house.
Team: They have a devoted and supportive team that consists of two Veterinary Surgeons, two dedicated Nurses (one Student Nurse), and a Practice Manager.
Role: Due to retirement this practice is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join them as their Clinical Director. Alongside good management and leadership skills, they are looking for a Vet who is keen to work up cases, provides excellent client care, and has good communication skills.
Find an exciting career where no two days are the same:
- Their caseload ranges from the standard (e.g. vaccinations, microchipping, neutering, dentals, in-house laboratory, X-ray interpretation pet passports, pregnancy diagnosis with ultrasound, hip and elbow scoring, PAT dog assessments), to more specialist services and treatments, such as chemotherapy, echocardiograms, ECG, video endoscope and bronchoscope for non-invasive investigations and advanced surgeries.
- They have an extensive collection of orthopaedic equipment including a LEAP kit, Securos 2.4mm locking plate kit, and a wide range of standard cortical and external fixator kits.
Fix or flex – The work-life balance that works for you
- The hours for this role are 40 hours over 4 days per week, Monday to Friday, plus a fair share of Saturday mornings.
- Their emergency out-of-hours is undertaken by Vets Now, though they continue to look after in-patients so you will also need to take part in the evening/weekend in-patient rota.
- Their flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale of your work-life balance.
- They know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and they want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance.
What you will bring to the role: Whether you’re an experienced Clinical Director or looking to take the next step in your career this may be the ideal opportunity for you. They are looking to welcome a Veterinary Surgeon to their team with great clinical and personal skills who is a keen and skilled surgeon happy to carry out more advanced procedures at the practice and mentor your team.
