Performing Arts Technician (up to Full Time, Term Time Only)
Working up to 37 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8.30 am and 5.10 pm, for 39 weeks per year, term time only. A degree of flexibility is required including to cover evening performances.
To support the work of students and staff in the department.
You will:
- Assist in preparing for and the running of performances in the theatre. This could include (but is not limited to) designing, making and sourcing costumes, props and set.
- Supervise groups of students undertaking practical assignments. To help staff and students to carry out particular operations using props, costumes and stage sets.
- Ensure that equipment and materials are kept in good working order and securely stored.
We are looking for a candidate who ideally has:
- An interest in theatre design.
- Demonstrable creativity and art skills in at least one area; costumes, prop construction, set design.
- Experience of supporting Students and Staff in practical work.
Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine Point 20 £20,584 rising to point 23 £21,810 with annual increments based on service and performance related criteria. This is the Full Time, Full Year annual salary. (This will be pro-rated according to hours worked per week and weeks worked per year)
For example:
1 day = 7.5 hours per week – annual pro rated salary £3,593 rising to £3,808
2 days = 15 hours per week – annual pro rated salary £7,189 rising to £7,618
5 days = 37 hours per week – annual pro rated salary £17,733 rising to £18,789
