Job description
Performance Supervisor
12 Clifford Street
York, North Yorkshire, YO1 9RD
United Kingdom
OI PEASANTS! WE’RE RECRUITING… Fancy a leading Performance Supervisor role and being responsible for outrageous behaviour to build an inhospitable and gruesome environment?
Working here feels pretty unique, but also cold, dark and foul-smelling! Therefore, we’re looking for someone who is highly motivated to work in this distinctively thrilling attraction that will take you back to York’s darkest history.
What we are looking for
- Proven leadership skills and experience within a performance role in a leisure or similar business is essential
- An individual who can help inspire a team of actors to bring our characters to life through strong, disciplined performances
- A peasant who has the energy and enthusiasm, the ability to communicate and motivate others and be a credible and star performer who inspires revulsion
- You will also need to have commercial awareness of the business, and keen eye on product quality and guest experience
Does this sound like it could be you? The cell doors are open and ready to welcome you…
Reporting into the Attractions Manager you’ll ensure the efficient operational and artistic running of the department, driving the delivery of exceptionally high-performance standards, to offer a unique and horrible memorable guest experience.
You’ll deliver regular workshops and ensure all actors are trained in make-up techniques, costume presentation, prop use and that they all receive feedback and direction to ensure their performance and delivery is always to a consistently high standard. You will view tours on a regular basis to ensure actors receive feedback and direction on their performance and will also perform yourself when the business demands it.
You will carry out recruitment and selection of performers and complete in a timely manner to ensure enough staffing levels are maintained throughout the year including key trading periods, event led activities and evening events.
Alongside this, you’ll keep our Attractions, Guest Services, Admissions and Presentations teams motivated too. Not only ensuring they are tormenting our guests and being unapologetic for their actions but being on hand to guarantee health and safety and presentation standards are gruesomely good.
This role is fixed term for 7 months and full-time. Given the 7-day nature of the visitor attraction, there will be regular weekend and bank holiday working on a roster basis, so you’ll need to be flexible with regards to working days and hours.
What’s in it for you
Alongside helping to bring York’s darkest historic events back to life, you’ll also receive:
- 40% off LEGO online and 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants
- Merlin Magic Pass - giving you free tickets to all our attractions worldwide for you, your family, and friends every year
- O2 discount
- Employee pricing up to 55% off cinema tickets
