Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is one of the largest police forces in the UK and is responsible for keeping its diverse population of almost 3 million safe, spread over more than 1,200 sq. km. GMP have recently established a new Corporate Development Branch, which brings together strategy, performance, oversight and governance.
The new function will be the “Corporate Brain” of the organisation, providing senior leaders with full sight of how the force is performing and highlighting where to target improvement activity.
GMP are one of the fastest improving police forces in the UK and we are aiming to build on this through strengthening our Strategic Performance Team. We are recruiting to a number of positions across several roles.

To gather, collate and present different types of data and information from various sources in a clear and concise manner and to draw conclusions and put forward informed recommendations to support GMPs performance improvement.
This post provides an excellent opportunity for an analytically minded person to be part of a fascinating and rewarding area of work in a supportive environment.
Working as part of the Strategic Performance Team, you will focus on producing and publishing performance data in a variety of formats, including briefing papers, written reports and presentations, detailing the findings of performance analysis and research.
The successful candidate will provide an efficient and effective analytical service and should have experience of working in a similar analytical environment or have equivalent academic experience, having the ability to collate, evaluate, structure and process data to identify patterns and trends.
Along with having excellent IT skills and the ability to produce accurate and concise reports to a high standard, you should have experience of preparing and conducting presentations and briefings.
You will be required on occasion to travel for business purposes and demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours.

To be eligible for appointment as a member of police staff, you must be a British citizen or a citizen of a country that is a member of the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. Greater Manchester Police have been informed of potential personal tax implications for members of the 1987 Police Pension Scheme, who retire and take a pension between the ages of 50 and 54 inclusive and then take up employment as a Police Staff member. Members of the police pension scheme whose age is between 50 and 54 who are re-employed as a Police Staff member have to meet certain conditions to keep their PPA and to protect against personal tax liability charges on any payments paid before the age of 55. One of those conditions is that a break of at least 1 month is required where the re-employment is ‘materially different’. However, if the role is not deemed to be ‘materially different’ then a 6 month break is required.
