HR/People & Culture Advisor

Location: Enfield - Hybrid working (Home and office)

Salary: £33,075 Hours: 37.5 (Part time applications will be considered)

Our Association was founded in 1966 by a group of local church groups in response to the desperate need in the local area for affordable rental housing. Christian Action has grown into a vital local provider of accommodation in four North London boroughs. We are a diverse, fun and friendly team whose mission is to provide high quality and affordable support and services to those in housing need.

Across Enfield, Barnet, Haringey and Waltham Forest we provide affordable housing, managing around 1600 homes and we continue to strive to provide more much needed services. We run essential supported living accommodation and services for young people, helping them to achieve independent living and a bright future. Role Purpose

Our advisors and officers provide technical or professional expertise and advice to internal and external customers. They are expected to give support to our front line teams, and work closely with our senior leaders to deliver great services across the organisation.

Core Responsibilities

  • To support the Operations Manager – People & Culture and work in partnership with the business to provide pragmatic, accurate and high quality advice and support services.
  • Manage and contribute to the design, development and delivery of People & Culture and L&D projects in relation to strategic People and Culture objectives
  • Build a coaching / partnering approach to support managers to deal with people and performance issues, including management of employee relations cases.
  • Use the HR data available to highlight areas of concern, insight or interest, implementing process improvements and supporting business leaders with key areas such as absence management and high turnover.
  • Take an active role in Health and Safety for employees through effective induction and training, monitoring of policy, keeping informed of best practice and supporting the work of the Association’s H&S working group.
  • Review, update and implement policies, procedures and practices for the People & Culture Team including running CIA’s
  • Manage the Performance Management process including 1-2-1’s and appraisals
  • Work in conjunction with the Operations Manager, People & Culture to deliver the L&D strategy
  • Delivery of P&C administration including performance management, absence records etc.
  • Make best use of the intranet (The Hub) in providing information to be included on our intranet page
  • Any other duties that may be reasonably required

Day to day activities / Key Tasks

  • Design and support a range of projects and initiatives in line with the Associations People and Culture Strategy
  • Provide business specific advice to line managers on staffing matters particularly on recruitment & selection, performance management, employee relations and well-being
  • Support with managing change and consultation processes
  • Review, update and implement policies, procedures and practices as required, including the Community Impact Assessment process
  • Provide HR data, KPI’s and reporting on a monthly basis and as needed to support the Operations Manager – People & Culture in the production of reports and papers for management team and board committees.
  • Dealing with escalated enquires and issues from employees around pay, People & Culture processes or well-being.
  • Work in conjunction with the Assistant Advisor to promote and champion EDI for the Association
  • Coordinate and administer training events; bookings, confirmations, collating feedback, reporting on KPI’s and results
  • Support managers with the learning and development of their teams, introducing new and innovative approaches
  • Work effectively with the People & Culture team, to provide a responsive and joined up service
