Payroll Specialist

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process accurate and timely payroll for multiple companies and multiple state jurisdictions.
- Knowledge of payroll compliance e.g., IRS rules and regulations, wage & hour laws, FLSA.
- Knowledge of 941’s, federal and state unemployment taxes, and other payroll-related tax forms and rules.
- Assist with any needed reconciliations and amendments.
- Reconcile state and federal unemployment gross wages.
- Review wages computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
- Audit changes affecting payroll data.
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes and deductions.
- Issue manual checks, stop payments, ACH retrievals, void checks, as necessary.
- Provides deadlines and communicates effectively with partnering departments
- Ability to research and follow up with internal customer concerns and questions
- Provide high level of customer service to internal customers
Qualifications
- Knowledge of payroll processing procedures.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, and adapt to changing environment and support multiple demands.
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Education/Experience
- Associates Degree preferred, High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Two (2) or more years of payroll experience at a company with 1,000 or more
employees.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Suite- Payroll/HRIS System Module
- Oracle preferred
