Sense are currently recruiting for a Payroll Officer to join our established payroll team at our offices in Wakefield.
The Finance team in Sense and Sense International (SI) is an integrated support function. At all levels, the Finance team members are directly involved with colleagues, people who receive services from Sense and other stakeholders. The Payroll Department is an integral part of the Finance team and provides payroll advice and information to all employees and external agencies where appropriate.
The main objectives and responsibilities of the role are as follows:
Work within the team to assist with the processing of three monthly payrolls:
Inputting variables, i.e. add hours, sleep-ins, on-calls.
Calculating sickness deduction/payments, backdated pay, cost splits, incremental rises, changes in hours, leaver payments (including redundancy), re-grades and all other variable data relating to pay
Processing and checking of all starter and leaver information
Calculating and monitoring all statutory payments and ensuring current legislation is adhered to
Administering the company's benefits
Administer all Attachment of Earnings Orders/Direct Earnings Attachments and liaise with relevant authorities regarding any payment queries.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Experience of using PC based payroll systems and MS Office
Extensive knowledge of HMRC (PAYE & NIC) legislation
Experience of working in a payroll environment
Experience of working in a customer focussed environment and an understanding of good customer service
Ability to report payroll information in a way it can be understood by non-payroll staff
Good organisational skills, including good time management and the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
