The HICA Group has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Payroll Senior/Team Leader to step into our newly created Payroll Assistant Manager role to lead our payroll team through the routine end-to-end payroll procedures, whilst working with your customer base to drive continuous improvement.
Based either at Hesslewood Office Park (HU13) or enjoying hybrid working, you will enjoy great flexibility with your hours to suit you and the peak times of our payroll cycles.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, you will prepare our payrolls with data supplied from across our group of care homes and domiciliary offices.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Setting the timetable and priorities for the team throughout the month
- Monitoring progress of the payroll cycle and addressing any concerns that could impact deadlines, such as obtaining missing information or reprioritising team tasks
- Preparation of monthly and 4-weekly payrolls; leading the process of uploading data into the payroll system, assessing overtime, statutory and contractual adjustments
- Overseeing the end-to-end payroll process including undertaking manual Gross to Net calculations, validating statutory payments, 3rdparty deductions, auto-enrolment, annual leave and NI/tax deductions
- Managing overpayment procedures and writing back of overpayments
- Develop the Payroll team by providing effective coaching and mentoring whilst taking responsibility for more complex payroll queries
- Working closely with your customer base in respect of validating data, checking their payroll processes and training new managers.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience as a Payroll Senior / Team Leader is essential
- Past experience of manual calculations, even if this historical rather than your recent role(s)
- A strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Exceptional organisational and prioritising skills
- Highly computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in payroll software
- Experience of managing a small team (Desirable)
