Payments Specialist (Change)
Salary up to £48,300
Grade: CR3
Location: Home Based
Hours: 35 per week
Job purpose:
We are excited to announce a brand new opportunity for a Payments Specialist to work within our Payments team. This position will involve working on Bank & Industry wide projects and initiatives in particular New Payments Architecture. You will provide specialist input, advice and guidance as well as a range of business support services. You will contribute to the compliance of Payments of which Bank operates (CHAPS, BACS, ICS, FPS, LINK, CASS, SEPA & Target2). This role will provide support for Payments Strategy development and implementation, through supporting the delivery of project change and improvements to payment processes in accordance with the Bank’s defined strategic and risk appetite.
Key accountabilities:
- Payments SME on internal and external projects, contributing to all stages of the project lifecycle making key decisions to support the delivery of the project. E.g. New Payments Architecture (NPA).
- Understand the impacts of Regulatory initiatives on the Bank and our customers, and ensure all relevant stakeholders are kept informed and are fully aware of activities to be undertaken
- Support in ensuring the Bank is compliant with relevant regulations and procedures, including other relevant internal/external standards within the operational and technical areas, and keep abreast of changes which may impact the business
- Providing guidance and recommendations to the business on issues and their resolution
- Represent the Bank at industry meetings as appropriate
- Carry out analysis and make recommendations based on knowledge of payments industry and best practise in order to inform decision making at a senior level.
- Complete horizon scanning and gap / impact analysis for regulatory and industry consultations and changes.
- Preparation of monthly committee packs and adhoc submissions to relevant bank and external fora.
- Collation and management of the Banks Payment Key Risk Appetite submissions.
- To deliver specialist information from projects to relevant business areas within the Bank to ensure that they understand and are kept up to date with emerging initiatives.
- Support the ownership of payments IT applications including the review and removal of Tech Debt.
- Develop and maintain an understanding of payments industry activities in order to provide specialist support and advice to strategic Bank projects
- Build and maintain effective relationships with appropriate internal and external stakeholders to support the effective provision of solutions, advice and guidance.
- Takes responsibility for own development and training plans to achieve a significant improvement in skills, know-how and competency
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
- Knowledge of payment processes, procedures and payment schemes; relating to BACS, FPS, ICS, CHAPS, Foreign, LINK & CASS
- Strong knowledge of the UK Payments sector, competitor activity, market developments, regulatory & scheme regime and emerging market trends.
- Well-developed networking, communication and influencing skills to manage relationships and understand key issues.
- Good knowledge of payment operations and supporting systems, including the integrating systems with the Scheme
- Good understanding of payment scheme rules and regulations
- Good stakeholder management at all levels
- Ability to communicate effectively at senior level, in a style appropriate to audience
- Good presentation skills including use of PowerPoint
- Confidence in data / MI collation and interpretation
