Permanent, part-time 24 hours a week - all day Monday, Tuesday am, Wednesday to Friday pm. Must be able to start at 08:00am.
Pay rate is increased after a successful probation period, in line with the real Living Wage.
We are a very friendly, rural practice with a list size of approximately 4900. Great Staughton is located five miles from St Neots with excellent transport links to the A1/A14. We were rated first in Cambs and Peterborough for patient experience in the 2021 GP Patient Survey.
To be part of a team responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception and administrative duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients and visitors, patient registration, booking appointments, processing of information (electronic and hard copy), summarising of medical notes and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Previous experience working in a GP practice preferred, but full training will be given.
a. Process and effectively signpost patients ‘care navigate’ to the appropriate healthcare professional depending on the presenting condition, following agreed protocols
b. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments , following agreed appointment booking protocols
c. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
d. Ensure tasks are actioned within agreed time frames
e. Process all incoming documentation following internal document management protocol
f. Proactively encourage patients to use online services for appointment booking and prescription requests
g. Ensure any prescription queries are passed to the dispensary team or relevant clinician
h. Monitor and ad-hoc summarising of medical records within agreed time-frames, following practice protocol
i. The processing of changes to patient registration, deduction of record and new patient registration
j. Process incoming and outgoing mail and ensure outgoing mail is posted in a timely manner
k. Process incoming retinal eye screening reports
l. Review all clinical letters ensuring they are processed appropriately, in line with protocols
m. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
n. Support the referrals administrator and process referrals to external agencies such as secondary care using the electronic referral system (ERS)
o. Process all DNA letters in accordance with current policy
p. Action GP2GP tasks
q. Photocopy documentation as required
r. File and store records as required
s. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
t. Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
u. Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient’s healthcare records
v. Process requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the referrals administrator
w. Manage all queries (including administrative queries) as necessary in an efficient manner
x. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
y. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
z. Support all clinical staff and management with general tasks as requested
aa. Share the provision of cover during absences within the team in a fair way, following internal process
