Patient Care Representative, Rehabilitation
As VHC Health continues to rapidly expand, we are looking for a Patient Care Representative to join our Rehabilitation team! In this role, the team member will schedule appointments for patients, answer telephone calls, coordinate insurance verifications and preauthorizations, take payments, complete daily batching, maintain medical records, prepare charts for clinic sessions and provide assistance as needed to team members.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years relevant experience ( office, clerical, heathcare or medical office) required.
- Knowledge of medical office or hospital scheduling systems and electronic medical records preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical office billing and operations preferred.
- Qualified candidates must possess excellent interpersonal communication ability, customer service skills, and telephone etiquette. Must be able to perform in a high-pressure environment and have the ability to organize multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must present professionally, have a pleasant personality, and ability to communicate positively with patients and staff.
- Greets all patients in a courteous, professional manner.
- Obtains and accurately enters patient information into registration system.
- Provides registration face sheet to patients to review; make changes as necessary in the registration system.
- Efficiently and correctly schedules patient appointments according to departmental procedure.
- Answers the phone within three rings.
- Handles multiple telephone lines with high call volumes. Screens and routes all call appropriately.
- Files correspondence promptly in patient charts when returned from clinician or manager.
- Prior to the patient’s visit, obtains orders for all visits, referrals according to insurance from the referring physician, and verifies insurance authorization when applicable, according to department procedure.
- Takes co-payments and collects at time of visit, identifies self pay patients and follows department procedure. Maintains security of payments at all times.
- Keeps waiting room and reception area neat, clean, and free of debris at all times. Does not keep food or drink at workstation.
