Job description
The role of the patient care assistant (PCA) is to support the nursing and wider practice team in achieving the highest standard of care.
The PCA role will involve working in a variety of areas in the practice, including kennels, prep and theatre, and the laboratory a long side the veterinary team.
key responsibilities include:
- Assist with patient restraint, ensuring patient friendly
- Prepare and maintain patient accommodation.
- Cleaning and disinfection of patient accommodation
- Inpatient care to include exercising, feeding and grooming
- Cleaning, packaging and sterilization
- Maintenance of theatre to include preparation of the environment and equipment and cleaning.
The role will include working weekends and night duties on a rota basis.
Previous experience working with animals and a basic understanding of animal welfare and handling is preferred.

Education:
- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
Experience:
- Animal care: 1 year (preferred)
