As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the RN, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs, comfort and safety for a specific patient population (ANA Standards of Delegation, 2004). Employee must be able to successfully complete job specific orientation, competencies, and meet/exceed standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal. PCTs must demonstrate awareness of patient’s rights in all aspects of patient care and reports issue to appropriate person. The PCT demonstrates leadership through coordination of unit equipment and activities. Communicates to the RN pertinent findings or observations noted while providing patient care and comfort. Assist professional staff with basic life support principles.
Unit Description:
The Medical Surgical Unit is a 23 bed unit located on the 5th floor Unit 5100 of the Midtown Campus. The unit cares for patients from 18 years of age through geriatric with medical surgical diagnoses that may or may not require remote telemetry monitoring. Scope of care will include medical surgical patients with complication due to pneumonia, COPD & asthma exacerbations, heart failure, and viral/bacterial infections. Our wide-range of diagnoses makes this unit a great place to learn.
Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire.
- Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Successfully completes PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
