The role

It is an exciting time to join Bristol Dental School as we move to a new site (1 Trinity Quay, Avon Street, Bristol) and operating model in Summer 2023. The role involves the management of student patient appointments, including bookings and management of waiting lists.

In this role you will initially work alongside established post holders, with booking of dental undergraduate student appointments, at the current Dental Hospital & School within South Bristol Community Hospital (Hengrove), and then move with us to our new Bristol Dental School in Trinity Quay.

What will you be doing?

The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for the patient appointment ‘lifecycle’, from registering referrals on the patient administration system, to booking appointments and managing the student patient waiting list following local booking rules and procedures.
  • Be the first point of contact for patients, students, nurses, clinical and other administrative staff in relation to the coordination of clinics, management of waiting lists and booking of patients.

You should apply if

  • You are a well organised, enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills.
  • You are adaptable and able to deliver high quality, efficient and effective clinical administrative support.
  • You have strong computer skills; email communications, Microsoft packages (full training will be given on specific systems)

Nice to have:

  • Experience of patient administration in the NHS or similar dentistry setting, although training and support will be provided.

Contract type: Open – ended

Work pattern: 7 roles at full time -1 FTE / 1 part time role- 0.4 FTE

Grade: D

Salary: £20,761 - £22,662 per annum (pro rata if part time) - depending on experience

School/Unit: Dental School

Shift pattern: 35 hours per week / 1 additional part time role: 14h per week
