PASSENGER ASSISTANT ROLE
Lucketts of Watford has part time Passenger Assistant work available in your local areas (Stevenage, Borehamwood, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, St Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Enfield & Watford) every school day for both morning and afternoon runs, (07:30am - 09:30am & 14:30pm - 16:30pm) The work on average is between 12.5 and 25 hours per week. These are rewarding roles supporting children and young adults with a range of Special Educational Needs.
These roles are particularly suitable for reliable and caring individuals, seeking to look after children or adults some with complex needs on the way to school or day centres.
The Role
Some SEND school transport routes have a Passenger Assistant (PA) on board. The role of the PA is to assist those students who require additional support, to ensure that they arrive at school safe, happy, and ready to learn.
All PA's employed by Lucketts of Watford are expected to meet the following standards:
- They have passed DBS checks and completed internal training.
- They are polite, supportive and behave in a professional manner.
- They adapt their approach to best suit the needs of the student they are supporting.
Key Responsibilities
- To support children or adults getting on and off from the vehicles.
- To look after the needs both emotional and medical of the adults and children during the journey (training is provided).
- To make sure that passengers are always safe.
- To always keep vehicle in a clean and tidy manner.
- Be available both am and pm for all school days.
- To assist wheelchair users to board vehicles, safely clamp them and to disembark them (if required)
- To work with your driver in a collaborative manner.
Key Requirements
- Experience working with children is an advantage but not essential.
- Experience working with special needs is an advantage but not essential.
- Good command of the spoken English language and ability to write short basic notes.
- Undergo Enhanced DBS criminal record check as you will be working with children, young people and/or vulnerable adults. (We will help you obtain this.)
- A friendly and positive attitude, enjoy working with children and be reliable.
- Ability and willingness to work with children and adults of varying needs.
- A calm and patient attitude.
