Brief overview of the Position:
Working with:
Joining a small, supportive team the Fundraising manager will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities and generating income through developing relationships with funding bodies and by writing compelling bids and tenders to support delivery of Age UK West Cumbria’s strategy for growth. Support the Management team to develop new, productive corporate relationships. Contribute to development of the charity’s wider fundraising function within this small, friendly, locally-focused business development team.
Internal and external stakeholders
Main duties and Responsibilities:
1. Align funding strategy and action to the core aims and objectives of the charity, and ensure that actions are motivated and informed by the client’s needs.
2. Identify and implement new income opportunities from all grant making sources. Develop and maintain a database of funding sources.
3. Research potential new funders and assess the charity’s eligibility.
4. Prepare and write effective bids and tenders.
5. Develop and manage confident relationships with Trusts and grant making bodies and write applications to them to secure funding.
6. Work with the Chief Executive to develop a strategy to support growth in income from Trusts, tenders and grants.
7. Work closely with the Data and Compliance Officer to ensure best practice around delivery of funding remits, KPI’s and monitoring activities. Aid in the development of services over time in finding best fit for our clients, maximising funding opportunities that arise.
8. Ensure grant monitoring reports are written in a timely manner.
9. Develop and maintain a bid bank of up-to-date and accurate records of trust applications and reporting deadlines.
10. Work with colleagues to Identify potential new opportunities and fundraising activities and assist in the preparation of business cases for investment.
11. Work with colleagues to contribute to development and management of productive corporate relationships, including exploring payroll giving and project sponsorship.
12. Continually monitor, review and develop activities to ensure maximum return on investment.
13. Be proactive in keeping up to date with ideas and best practice from across the sector, including through networks with other fundraisers from other charities.
14. Ensure that all fundraising activity complies with best practice, relevant codes of practice and legislation.
15. Work within agreed organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.
16. Work as an integral part of the team, being sensitive to the needs of the whole team and supportive of other team members.
17. Participate in regular performance management and undertake training to maintain and develop knowledge and skills as required.
18. Any other duties as deemed necessary.
Summary of key attributes & Qualifications for role:
Experienced bid and tender writer with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding targets. Excellent research, analytical and communication skills. Ability and drive to develop productive relationships.

· Percentage of successful applications

Flexibility Clauses:
· The nature of this post will require flexibility to meet urgent needs as they arise, this may entail occasional weekend or evening work.
· This job description is not intended to be exhaustive. The post-holder will be expected to adopt a flexible attitude to the duties which may have to be varied (after discussion with the post holder) subject to the needs of the service, and in keeping with the general profile of the post.
