Job description
Contract: Fixed-term 36 months
This is a career defining opportunity to join a modern, progressive, world-leading organisation, and play a key role building and maintaining data partnerships and relationships, which are essential to supporting safe, secure and thriving oceans.
About the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)
We are a world-leading centre for hydrography, specialising in marine geospatial data to support safe, secure and thriving oceans. We fulfil the UK government’s Safety of Life at Sea obligations and are relied upon by defence users, government and global shipping.
The role
As Partnering and Engagement Officer, you will be part of the UKHO Global Partnering and Engagement team, which maintains data supply to enable the UKHO’s global portfolio of products and services to develop and grow. The team achieve this through maintaining relationships and formalised arrangements with external organisations such as ports and foreign government hydrographic offices.
You will support the Head of Partnering and Engagement with the day-to-day management of data partnerships, preparing briefs for events, meetings and engagements, managing requests for information and acting as the UKHO point of contact for various regions around the world (Americas; East Atlantic and Caribbean; Europe and Mediterranean; UK; Middle East and Africa; and Asia Pacific).
You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining process documentation for the Global Partnering and Engagement team. Additionally, you will act as the guardian for information relevant to various regions, ensuring that it is stored according to Data Acquisition Division Policy.
This is a busy role involving occasional international travel, working autonomously with the mandate to build relationships across various regions.
About you
You will be a team player with good interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy. You will be able to take initial direction and guidance and then work on your own, organising and prioritising your own workload. You will be effective under pressure and will not be phased by tackling new pieces of work. You will need to be proactive and innovative in solving problems. You must be comfortable engaging with all levels of staff both internally and externally.
In return
The UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential and make an impact. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. We offer a range of flexible working options, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 26.5 days, rising to 31.5 days after 5 years. The opportunities open to you here are hard to beat!
