Are you great with people and love working with animals? Are you looking for a rewarding, practical role where you can make a positive impact to the lives of animals in need?
We are looking to appoint two part-time Animal Care Assistants to join the dedicated team at our busy Chesterfield Animal Centre where we rescue, rehabilitate and rehome around 350 animals each year. You will be helping the animals that come into our care through their whole journey from their arrival to our ultimate goal of finding them loving permanent homes.
This is an ideal opportunity to use your excellent customer service skills, adaptable approach, good team work and commitment to animal welfare to make a real difference.
Duties will include:
- Meeting the day-to-day care needs of animals at the Animal Centre including feeding, cleaning, observing behaviour, grooming, health checking and giving medication.
- Ensuring the best outcomes and welfare for the animals in our care, including implementing training and behavioural modification programmes and carrying out socialisation and enrichment activities.
- Completing accurate paper and electronic records and forms.
- Providing a high level of customer service and professionalism to visitors to the Animal Centre.
- Helping match animals to potential adopters, answering queries, giving advice on the care and welfare of animals and dealing with the intake and rehoming process.
- Positively promoting our animal welfare work, participating in income generation activities and helping raise the profile of charity.
You will need to have strong interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy active work and be capable of working both as part of a team and independently. It is important that you have a positive, flexible attitude and are good at prioritising your workload.
