Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with experience to join the small but progressive Parkinson Nurse Service. The post holder will have an in-depth knowledge of Parkinson's, and the clinical skills to manage the care of patients across the disease spectrum, and the knowledge in educating people with Parkinson's, carers and healthcare professionals to manage Parkinson's Disease.
This is a part time post and the applicant should have the ability to travel across Bedfordshire as patients are seen in their own home and in clinics. Applicants should be dynamic, motivated with strong interpersonal skills which are essential to work collaboratively with people with Parkinsons, carers, and multidisciplinary teams. The successful applicant will work with other Parkinson's nurses, managing their own caseload of patients and ideally be a non medical prescriber.
You will be working as part of the Parkinsons team providing specialist nursing intervention for patients with Parkinsons disease. The post holder will carry out comprehensive specialist holistic assessments and use their knowledge and skills to help manage the Parkinsons caseload.
The successful candidate will be required to work independently in providing education and information, advice, and support to patients in their own home and within clinics, as well as remotely via phonecalls or video conferencing.
You will also be required to liaise and work closely with other health care professionals in ensuring that patient care needs are met accordingly, and that care is delivered to a high standard.
