The Department
We are presently looking for a bright, ambitious and enthusiastic paralegal to join our remote, innovative Legal Delivery Centre (LDC). The LDC provides paralegal support to all of our UK and Middle East offices.

Meeting the ever increasing demands for disaggregated legal services, the LDC offers an exciting opportunity for development and experience across the full spectrum of legal service areas and the chance to undertake work that is varied, challenging and engaging. This particular role is within the MKParaShoot team. This team is a dedicated resource to the Milton Keynes real estate (MKRE) team. MKParaShoot supports the MKRE team with the full breadth of their work as well as each paralegal having the opportunity to manage their own case load.
Development programme
The team is supported by a development programme which won the Best Law Firm – Paralegal Development award at the Paralegal Awards 2019 and 2020. The judges said when announcing the award in September 2020 "the overall winner stood out for their outstanding and innovative work in promoting and developing training programmes for paralegals, taking clear action to develop and assist with paralegal development and be a leader in the legal landscape". The firm is a corporate member of the Institute of Paralegals ("IoP") and we are delighted that our development programme was recently externally accredited by the IoP.
Responsibilities
- Provision of legal services to a wide breadth of clients including the technical skills of drafting, negotiating, advising.
- Providing support to qualified fee earners in relation to their matters including drafting reports on title, reviewing replies to preliminary enquiries, analysing search results.
- Management of own case load under supervision including effecting exchange and completion.
- Assisting with due diligence and other RE project work.
- Financial hygiene including time recording and billing.
- Legal research.
Through newly established ways of working, including an increased emphasis on technological solutions, you will be supported in taking full ownership for some key tasks, giving you direct responsibility. Our approach is to create a supportive remote environment by working collaboratively as part of a team whilst also encouraging team members to operate with a degree of independence.
You will work closely with other members of this dedicated team as well as with our MKRE team, legal service areas, project management team and with clients. The team has a strong teamwork ethic and a first class internal and external client management approach. It is essential that candidates are team players and committed to developing both personally and professionally. A determination to deliver high-quality focused services is essential as is maintaining and developing both internal and external client relationships.
Successful candidates will be people with energy and enthusiasm, working hard to provide the highest levels of service whilst at the same time valuing having fun being part of a supportive and collegiate team.
Required experience, skills and attributes
- Minimum of three A levels at grade B, or equivalent.
- A qualification in law (Degree, Graduate Diploma in Law).
- LPC, or equivalent (helpful but not essential).
- At least 2 years' experience of paralegal work in the real estate sector (preferably commercial real estate/retail).
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to organise, prioritise, multi-task and work well under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work accurately with excellent attention to detail.
- Demonstrate drive and initiative.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the confidence to deal effectively with Partners and professionals across the firm.
- An ability and willingness to be flexible.
- Sociable and a good team player.
