Job description
About Us and The Role
We’re looking for driven, ambitious staff to join our award-winning, nationally recognised legal service. At Warwickshire Legal Services your development comes first. Together with high quality training and a supportive environment, you’ll also be able to take advantage of greater flexibility and a work-life balance that’s hard to find at corporate firms.
We are proud of our working culture and every single role here at Warwickshire County Council contributes to bettering the lives of the people in our County. If you share our ambitions for growth and excellence, we welcome you to join.
The Children and Families Legal Team is a busy and dynamic team within Warwickshire Legal Services consisting of approximately 50 employees. The Team provides outstanding legal support to our Children’s Services’ Teams across Warwickshire on a range of child protection matters, as well as also undertaking work for other Local Authorities.
We are looking to recruit a Paralegal to work within our Pre-Proceedings Court Team and who will provide support to our Solicitors and Legal Assistants on a variety of child protection cases. Your responsibilities will include setting up pre proceedings meetings, instruction expert assessors, preparing bundles, assisting Legal Assistants with requesting evidence and other routine legal matters, and ensuring that our case management system and pre-proceedings trackers are kept up to date in line with our Lexcel Accreditation. You may occasionally be required to attend court hearings in order to provide assistance to solicitors or counsel on more complex hearings and to take notes.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to work under pressure as part of a busy legal team and have the ability to react to unforeseen and urgent demands. You will need 6 months of relevant experience in this area of practice. You will also need to have strong IT literacy and good organisation skills.
We are based at Shire Hall in Warwick but currently work from home. We provide a flexible, modern working environment, with the supporting technology that you would expect from a leading provider of legal services. You will be required to travel to our office in Warwick occasionally as and when the need arises.
