Role Overview
As part of the Commercial, Corporate and Property Legal team you will support the work of the team focusing on procurement contracting to underpin delivery of Bupa’s business strategy and purpose, in particular ensuring that the legal risks and operations of procurement relating to BGUK and Group businesses.
What you’ll do:
  • To provide support and assistance on contracting within the CCP team, in order to manage and mitigate procurement legal risks within Bupa, including:
  • Working with a significant Business Unit (“BU”) within the BGUK Market Unit and Group, namely Procurement;
  • Providing support to the business in drafting and negotiating agreements with suppliers and business partners, in order to achieve agreed business outcomes and ensure compliance with all applicable law and regulation, including Bupa’s own policies, guidance and procedures;
  • Working closely with the Procurement team to deliver effective support and advice in RFI, RFP and competitive tender processes;
  • Developing, aligning with the business, and implementing legal strategy, policies and processes in order to mitigate legal risk for Bupa;
  • Ensuring that Bupa’s name, reputation and intellectual property rights are protected;
  • Working with key stakeholders to improve practice and protocols, in order to ensure completion of contracts in a timely manner;
  • Assisting with the development of procedures, templates and guidance to enable the stakeholders to be more self-sufficient on contracts, in particular low risk contracts;
  • Keeping up-to-date with external best practice and developments in the law in order to maintain and share up-to-date knowledge and ensure continuous improvement; and
  • Working with the rest of the CCP team to ensure that appropriate procedures are in place so that the business has adequate advance notice of changes in applicable laws and regulation and assisting the business in understanding the commercial implications of such changes.
What you’ll bring:
  • Good organisational skills; understanding of how to add value; tenacious with a high attention to detail; conscientious and hard-working; thrives in a dynamic environment; ability to act with good judgment and discretion, including handling of sensitive matters appropriately.
  • Previous legal and contract drafting experience desirable.
  • 1st or 2.1 degree.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • LPC and/or GDL desirable but not essential
