Job description
TSR Legal are pleased to be working with a Times Best Law multi service law firm who are looking for a paralegal apprentice to join their Medical Accident Group in Birmingham working with the team's Costs Lawyer. This is a great opportunity to join a Top 70 law firm and gain excellent support and training an experienced Cost Lawyer.
Key responsibilities would be assisting the Cost Lawyer with:
Negotiating costs with the opponent
Preparing budgets and accompanying documents.
Preparing Bills of Costs
Preparing Replies to Points of Dispute
Attendance a CCMC (once training is completed)
Arranging for outstanding disbursements to be paid and securing reductions to Counsel’s fees when necessary
Assisting Costs Lawyer with day to day activities and tasks as required
Archiving files when required
Take an active role with the Paralegal and Trainee (PT) group and attend networking events or careers fairs to provide appropriate support as required
The successful candidate will have gained previous experience in a costs paralegal role, be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills as well as good analytical and problem solving skills as well as having a willingness to learn and help manage a growing caseload.
