Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct consultations with clients seeking refugee status, assessing their eligibility and evaluating their cases based on immigration laws and regulations.
- Prepare and submit detailed and accurate refugee claim applications to the Immigration and Refugee Board, ensuring all required documentation is included.
- Conduct thorough research on country conditions and human rights issues to strengthen refugee claims and support legal arguments.
- Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, including government agencies and non-profit organizations, to gather necessary evidence and build a robust case.
- Represent clients at hearings before the Immigration and Refugee Board, presenting oral arguments and advocating for their rights.
- Stay up-to-date with immigration laws, policies, and procedures to provide accurate and informed advice to clients.
- Maintain organized case files, update internal systems, and track deadlines to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Provide exceptional client service, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Immigration Consultant, Paralegal, or Immigration Lawyer, with a specific focus on refugee cases.
- CICC-IRB or Paralegal or Immigration lawyer
- Must be able to represent clients in front of IRB, so CICC-IRB license for immigration consultants is a MUST
- Strong knowledge of refugee law, immigration regulations, and procedures related to the Immigration and Refugee Board.
- Proven experience in preparing and submitting successful refugee claims and representing clients at refugee hearings.
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize complex information.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present arguments persuasively and effectively.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in relevant computer software and case management systems.
