Serious Injury Paralegal Role
Hybrid – Altrincham required two days a week minimum in the office
Legal 500 Firm
- Take instructions from the client.
- Advise the client on the law, procedures and legal issues relating to their case.
- Draft documents, letters, court documentation and contracts tailored to the client’s individual needs, while making use of the standard documents provided as part of the case management system.
- Negotiate with clients and other professionals to secure the agreed objectives.
- Progress the case to its conclusion, including identifying where a case has no prospects and advising the client accordingly.
- Keep the client informed on the progress of their case, including funding, ongoing costs, issues, and money held in client account.
- Instruct Counsel and experts to provide advice and representation on the client’s case
- Represent clients in hearings and in Court where required.
- Calculate claims for damages, compensation, maintenance etc
- Record all time on the file, documenting work undertaken to justify the time spent.
- Save all documents on the case management system, naming appropriately. Including all emails, invoices relating to disbursements and admin charges, records. There will be no corresponding paper file required to progress the case.
- Attract additional business from new and existing clients.
- Participate in departmental and firm wide meetings.
- Attend internal or external training as and when required.
- Work and behave in a professional manner and to the highest standards of the profession.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, professional standards and any requirement set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
- Carry out duties diligently and follow all reasonable instructions.
- Keep up to date with changes and developments in the law including relevant case law.
- Ensuring ongoing continual professional development, in whatever format determined by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, or other body as required.
- Develop and maintain good client relationship skills, gaining clients’ confidence and that of other professionals.
- Personal/Serious injury experience is preferable but not essential.
- Excellent time management.
- Prioritisation of tasks according to business need.
- Understand the priorities of different areas of the role.
- Understand the need for confidentiality in relation to client and business. Maintain that confidentiality- This includes complying with the firm’s data protection and confidentiality policies.

Knowledge and experience of the following:
- MS Word
- MS Excel
- MS Outlook
- Case Management Software
- Understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Understanding of and ability to interpret Civil Procedure Rules as required
