We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our highly valued inhouse Legal Team as an Assistant Litigation Solicitor.

What you’ll be doing:
As our Assistant Litigation Solicitor, you will hold overall responsibility for contentious matters within the company working alongside other litigators in the team. Your excellent communication skills will be key in advising and representing our business and its group companies focusing on pursing and defending civil litigation claims primarily relating commercial claims, debt recovery, engineering and construction disputes, property claims and possibly some employment disputes. –
It would also be advantageous if you had some experience of criminal litigation to assist with prosecutions in in the Magistrates' and Crown Court in respect to any prosecutions by Environment Agency and others and pursuing claims for variety of offences such as illegal trade effluent discharges, illegal use of assets, etc., and defending claims against the company for noise/smell nuisance
Alongside this, you will play a vital role in negotiating with third parties on settlements of disputes generally and advising on settlement terms, as well as advising on disputes with contractors.
This position is a key role for our business and therefore you will need to be highly skilled at managing customer relationships with internal Senior Managers and Directors

- UK Qualified Solicitor, with at least 5 years post-qualification experience in high profile dispute resolution, either in private practice or in industry although all candidates who can demonstrate relevant experience are encouraged to apply
- Relevant experience in advocacy as well as drafting pleadings and negotiating settlements; with active use of ADR as method of dispute resolution
- Desirable criminal practice (prosecution/defence) experience
- Be able to work autonomously, but also an excellent team player who is highly personable and is someone who can forge strong relationships with people at all business levels including directors, and external stakeholders- Strong analytical skills and ability to absorb complex information quickly
- Ability to find innovative solutions to problems for the business and provide great customer service
- Provide a practical and flexible approach to business challenges
- Strong team player with flexible approach
- IT literate and confident in using MS Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint
- Full Driving License and access to vehicle
