The UK Covid-19 Inquiry is the independent public inquiry set up to examine the UK’s response to and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, and learn lessons for the future. The Inquiry is Chaired by Baroness Heather Hallett, a former Court of Appeal judge. After an initial set up phase, the Inquiry was formally established in June 2022, when the Prime Minister published its Terms of Reference. The Inquiry has been established with full powers under the Inquiries Act (2005). It has opened its first investigations (or modules) and held its first preliminary hearings. The Inquiry sits independently of the Government with the Cabinet office acting as the sponsoring department. The Inquiry’s evidence and disclosure function sits within the Information Management Team and supports the Inquiry’s Legal Team with the effective delivery of the Inquiry. The Inquiry is seeking two Disclosure Paralegals. - Develop an understanding of how the Inquiry’s evidence management system is administered and operates, and provide ad hoc advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Enable the Inquiry’s Legal Team to interrogate vast quantities of evidential material from multiple providers, in an organised manner, ensuring evidential continuity; and to disclose and publish relevant materials in support of Core Particant access, hearings, and report publication.
- Support strategic and secure management of the Inquiry’s evidence management system and transfer platform, including coordinating with material providers, providing assurance where necessary, in order to efficiently obtain potentially evidential material
