Job description
We are looking for an experienced Painter and Decorator to join the Maintenance team at South Lodge.
In the position you will be responsible for all painting and decorating tasks across the resort including Hotel, Spa and back of house area's as directed by the Technical Services Manager.
The primary focus of the position is to ensure the property is always looking tip top, well presented and gives the guests and members the best first impression of the resort.
Main ResponsibilitiesMain Responsibilities:
- Prepare and clean surfaces using hand-held power tools and the appropriate methods. This could include scraping, sanding, sand-blasting, hydro-blasting, steam-cleaning; and “burning off” of loose paint; repair cracks and holes in walls and joinery by applying fillers/ sealant. Prepare/sand surface for application of decorative product.
- Apply paint or other materials, such as stains, lacquer, enamel, oil, varnish, metal coating or fire retardant using brushes, rollers or spray equipment, following manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Measure, cut and apply wallpaper or fabric to walls.
- Attend to all improvements and repair work in a timely manner within the painting and decorating/general maintenance remit.
- Assist other members of the Technical Services team when needed.
- To attend any departmental training sessions and/or meetings required.
- Report any challenges/complaints to the Technical Services Manager.
- Ensure that all material and tools used are looked after .
- Maintain a clean work and storage area.
- Ensure monthly stock checks are carried out .
- Mix and thin paint to obtain desired colour and texture as necessary .
- Ensure that work is carried out to a cost effective and high standard.
- Advise on any improvement needed to the hotel fabric .
Skills & Experience Required
- City & Guilds Part III /NVQ level 2/3 in Painting and Decorating or other equivalent qualification or experience.
- Be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team .
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
