We currently have an opportunity for a band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join our School Years team to further their knowledge and skills in paediatrics for 1 year.
This post can be part time / full time (up to 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday) with the option offlexible working, such asannualised hours or term time only. The role will involve travel to several sites but also leaves room for some home working. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists in Addington (Wokingham) and Avenue (Reading) special schools as well as supporting physical disability and/or autism resources in Wokingham. For this role we would consider someone who is an experienced band 5 or a band 6 and looking for the opportunity to progress their clinical skills and professional career within a supportive and dynamic integrated therapy team.
This is a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists in special schools, developing your skills in clinical areas such as AAC, eating + drinking and group sessions. You will work directly with the extended therapy team of physios, OTs and assistants, as well as highly skilled school staff. We encourage joint clinical and training sessions to learn from each other whilst providing a holistic management plan for the child and their family.
- Provide high quality assessment and interventions for children and young people with developmental / complex needs
- Opportunity to work alongside, and learn from dysphagia and AAC trained therapists
- Be involved in the development and implementation of training packages including training of external partners
- Function as a specialist autonomous clinician, supporting delivery of the CYPIT model, development of the CYPF and provide support to more junior staff
- Contribute to defined projects and service development initiatives as requested
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records and provide written therapy plans and reports including contribution to the EHCP Assessment process and tribunals as required
