Applicants are invited for the post of Band 7 Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian at Colchester Hospital.
This is an exciting role with joint clinical responsibility for the paediatric diabetes dietetic service including an established pump service. The Dietitian is an integral part of the MDT and participates in case conferences and multidisciplinary clinics. The successful candidate will join the current team of 3 Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Consultants, Psychologist and Transition nurse.
You will have experience in clinical paediatric dietetics and experience in paediatric diabetes. You must have excellent communication and leadership skills, be flexible and be able to use their own initiative to support the development of the service.
We will consider applicants with general paediatric dietetic experience as a band 6 to band 7 development opportunity as training in paediatric diabetes can be provided. We would also consider applicants wishing to work part-time.
The Nutrition and Dietetic Department are a friendly department of 15 members of staff including Dietitians, Nutrition nurses, Dietetic Assistant and admin staff. CPD and personal development are actively encouraged. The department also takes part in regular student training.
To be responsible for the provision of highly specialised dietetic advice to paediatric patients with Type 1 diabetes requiring nutritional intervention
To work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team in provision and development of the service including the provision of protocols as under pinned by the clinical governance framework
To educate and train all levels of healthcare professional and medical staff on paediatric nutrition and specialist areas within paediatrics.
To be a member of the paediatric multidisciplinary team and participate in ward rounds, team meetings, case conferences and specialist clinics.
To participate in student training

If appointed as band 6 development post:
To initially undertake all duties under supervision of Specialist Paediatric Diabetes Dietitian
To proactively work towards achieving Paediatric Dietetic and Diabetes competencies.
To attend additional tutorials and supervision sessions with clinical supervisor.
