Job description
We are a long established, family owned, food wholesaler, located in Exeter, Devon.
We specialise in sourcing and supplying a broad range of Chilled, Frozen, Ambient products from across the Southwest.
Our business is now looking for a new member of staff to join our small friendly team over our busy period.
4 day week: Monday - Thursday
Typical hours 9.30am - 3pm - Negotiable
Over-time is also available

Main Responsibilities
- Order picking small retail food packs within walk-in fridge to customers order. Label and package to company procedures.
- Ensure all pre-packed stock levels are sustained.
- Cross check any batch/date information on label to product.
- Box products in to outer boxes. Placing in the correct location in the warehouse.
- Follow company policies and procedures; implement training and good practice in to working procedures;
- Become competent on and implement the principles of Safer Food Better Business, HACCP and all other relevant legislative procedures and paperwork;
- Clean and tidy working areas throughout the working day. Sanitize work area at the end of each day;
- Follow all other policies & procedures set by the company.
The role will include:
- Standing for long periods of time
- Operating vac-packing machine.
- Working within chilled environment of 4c
- Manual handling
- Using touch screen scale equipment
- Working on your own and within a small team
- Wearing protective over coats, gloves, hair nets. Female’s hair tied up, men clean shaven or beard net.*
*Experience and Skills
Essential
- Proven ability of using own initiative whilst working independently or as part of a team
- Experience of working well under pressure whilst promoting a positive target focused attitude
- Understand of the importance of good personal and food hygiene
- Good level of English and mathematical skills
- Be able to self-motivate and manage own time over a variety of tasks
- Desirable
- Experience of working in a food production / manufacturing environment
- Up to date training certificate in Basic Food Hygiene
- Experience in Safer Food Better Business (food hygiene), Health & Safety, HACCP & COSHH
- Communication ( Essential)
- Ability to communicate well with colleagues, effectively handling difficult situations
- Good verbal communication skills

Initial probationary period.

Salary: £10.18-£11.00 per hour
