JOB TITLE
– Packaging Operator (A Shift)

DEPARTMENT – Packaging

LOCATION – Mountpark

WORKING HOURS – Double Days A Shift, Monday to Friday 6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm alternate weeks

What will you be doing:


As a Packaging Operator, you will perform a range of varied tasks in order to pick, package and ship contact lenses to ensure customer requirements, production performance targets and quality standards are met and, where possible, exceeded.


Essential Functions & Accountabilities:

  • Operating packaging machinery safely in accordance with company procedures & work instructions:
  • Starting/stopping machinery
  • Basic machinery fault resolution
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks
  • Inputting materials
  • Taking product and materials out
  • Checking printed data & quality

  • Picking materials & lenses for customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions:
  • Using FEFO logic
  • Pick from pedestrianized mezzanine floors up to 7 meters
  • Pick from hi-bay picking trucks up to 7 meters
  • Consumption of part boxes first

  • Shipping completed customer orders in accordance with company procedures & work instructions
  • Following bespoke customer requirements
  • Packing finished orders onto pallets
  • Using pallet trucks to move loads

  • Recording of Production data in accordance with company procedures & work instructions

  • Ensure best practices are followed in line with:
  • Standard operating procedures
  • GMP/5s
  • Principles of Lean
  • Lean Cell Charter

What skills and experience should you have?


  • PC literate, basic skills in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience of working in a warehouse environment, operating machinery or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience of using manual handling equipment, e.g. order pickers, pallet movers
  • Understanding of Lean, continuous improvements, Health and Safety preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand and work to SOP’s/ Work Instructions
  • Good communication skills with the ability to communicate well with all team members including line managers and support operations in English
  • Positive attitude and ability to self-motivate and demonstrate initiative to promote team working
  • Team player with ability to relate to people and form relationships easily
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision within a team as well as work effectively on your own
  • Ability to plan & prioritize own workloads
  • Five GCSE’s or equivalent preferred.
